Accra:
Today was another laid back day. We both read in preparation for our thesis. At 3:00 We took the staff out to La Tante DC10 Restaurant. It was pretty cool eating in an airplane. Reminded me of how spacious and cushy the seats and aisles used to be in airplanes. The servers wheeled the entrees to us on carts from the kitchen built below the plane.
As expected, the food was just ok and somewhat overpriced. The restaurant is more known for its novel atmosphere than its cuisine. I ordered sauteed mushrooms and vegetables with kelewele (spiced, seasoned, fried plantain). The vegetables were so spicy, I could not finish them. Besides, that they only gave me like one fried plantain. (Afterwards, I had to go eat at the coffee shop in the mall across the street. I had a mozzarella, pesto, and tomato pannini with coconut custard pie.) Everyone else did enjoy their food though and the fellowship was great. After the restaurant, several of us walked across the street to Marina Mall to go grocery shopping. Apparently, most people in Accra have not yet had the opportunity to use an escalator, so Tim and I held their hands and helped them on. Then we went so I could grab some more food. It was a good time.
