Day 21: Come On And Take a Free Ride!

On the road.....

Scored a free O.A. luxury coach ride to Bolgatanga with California Calvary Chapel Missionaries Ed, Jeff, and Bolgatanga Bible College Director Robert.  Road conditions between Accra and Kumasi were like the surface of the moon complete with axle busting craters.  Driver had two speeds; crater slow and supersonic fast.  Regular speed humps at each village the only thing slowing drivers down.  Once we reached the market at Kumasi, where there were very tight quarters, our driver Emmanuel actually knocked the box off some guy's head who was walking on the sidewalk.  Rest stops had this interesting concept of "female urinals".  One squats in the cement cubicle, then you get handed a plastic pot with which to wash the splash up off your shoes and hands.  No number two or tissue paper allowed.  We passed acres and acres of banana trees, palms, rice fields, goats, and innumerable stalls where vendors sold pineapples, oranges, yams, etc..... Beautiful countryside.  Farmers everywhere.

  1. Woah... "female urinals" sounds horrible. I thought having to be in a gypsy cab in Brooklyn was bad.
